Great for saltwater, Long term reliability
I have been using Shimano Sahara Spinning Reels exclusively for for the best 5 years, and I own 4 of them, 2 2500s and 2 3000s. I mainly fish saltwater for speckled trout and redfish. I have caught 100s of fish ranging from less than a pound to upwards of 30lb Black Drum. These reels have never failed me, never felt like it was insufficient in any way. I really like the smooth reeling action and unspooling for casting distance. The rubber grip is very comfortable also. After each use, I rinse them then spray with Reel Lube. I've never needed to break it down or replace anything on them.

I haven't owned a lot of reels, but this one is definitely nice. It reels smooth, it's light weight, the anti reverse sets hooks like a champ.
All the other reels I've owned were about half the price, and I can tell the differences with this reel. Every thing about it is just better, and it's not really that expensive. Considering I use to buy 40 dollar reels when I made 4.25 an hour. So it seemed about time to buy a little nicer reel. And for the money this is a really nice reel.
The little devil
I got this reel by mistake as I thought I was ordering the 2500 size and instead I got this 1000 size spool. I tell you, this reel is solid and I caught so many sea bream with it. The drag is strong and the cast distance is amazing with this reel. I use this reel on a 2 pc 7 feet spinning rod and I cast while sitting on my fishing chair. I am able to easily reach 70 yards of distance while sitting on my chair with this reel.
